RESONATE is an advanced choral ensemble for singers in grades 9–12 who are registered for Dynamic and are ready to meet the highest musical and personal expectations.
Singers in RESONATE are expected to demonstrate a strong individual work ethic, a growth mindset, and a serious commitment to mastering music literacy, ear training, and vocal technique. Rehearsals move quickly, and singers are responsible for keeping pace with challenging repertoire through consistent home practice and active engagement in every rehearsal.
RESONATE demands a focused, disciplined approach to learning, a high level of personal accountability, and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones. In return, singers gain access to exceptional opportunities for additional performances, workshops, and travel experiences that reward their hard work.
RESONATE is for students who are ready to:
- Take ownership of their musical growth with discipline and determination
- Meet high expectations with energy, resilience, and pride
- Prioritize attendance and make up any missed rehearsals without prompting (Resonate members may have up to 3 absences per semester. An absence is defined as missing more than 15 minutes (20% of rehearsal).
- Practice consistently and independently at home and outside of rehearsal
- Sustain focus, stamina, and positive leadership throughout both Dynamic & Resonate rehearsals (three hours total with a 15 minute break)
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, and joyful, serious music-making
Singers in RESONATE must also participate in DYNAMIC. RESONATE meets at SSCC's Quincy and Bridgewater locations.
Resonate is a FULL YEAR ensemble, there is no spring registration. Students who participate must commit for the whole year.
SSCC will provide…
-An audition-free opportunity—no prior singing experience required
-A high-quality singing experience that supports your growth as a musician and a singer
-Engaging and age-appropriate instructionTo support student success, we use Tier 1 strategies such as: (1) Clear Expectations, (2) Explicit Instruction, (3) Positive Reinforcement, (4) Positive Culture, (5) Visual Supports, (6) Movement Breaks, and (7) Consistent Routines.
