Kirsten founded the South Shore Children's Chorus in 2016 in her hometown of Quincy, MA, which has grown to serve over 200 singers in grades K-12 each year. Everywhere she teaches, conducts, speaks, writes, and presents, Kirsten champions the philosophy that singing should be natural, fun, and accessible to all who want to learn.

Do I need to audition to participate?
No! Encore is designed to be an accessible and enjoyable program for singers of all levels - beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Practice recordings will be sent in advance for singers who may learn better by ear.
I am unavailable to attend a portion of the program, can I still sign up?
At SSCC, community is of equal important to rehearsals. We do ask that should you participate as an Encore singer, that you are available for all of the events/activities including community meals, rehearsals, and gatherings. We encourage you to leave work a little bit early, or cancel that one small event to participate in this program in its fullest extent. It will be worth it!
What kind of music will we sing?
Encore will share inclusive programming using songs of many styles including; classical choral repertoire, acapella, folk songs, improv circle singing and more.
I really want to participate, but I can't afford it at this time.
Is there an option for me?
At SSCC, we never turn singers away who can not afford to participate. We hope that each participant can pay the minimum $150 program fee to cover expenses, and provide tiered fundraising options to support our students. Should you need financial assistance to participate, please email Encore's program administrator, Angela card at development@sscchorus.org.
