Summer Academy is a new program designed for students of all ages looking to continue their musical experiences through summer.

Thanks to our talented staff, we have a variety of offerings including private lessons, Wednesday Workshops, musicianship classes, and ensembles. Find more information below.

Private Lessons/Coachings
Piano Lessons:
Private, 1-1 lessons with Sona Minasian for all levels. Whether you've been taking lessons for a while and want a new perspective, or just starting your piano journey, Sona will meet you where you are and help you work towards your goals at the keyboard. Length of lesson will be determined upon registration.

Voice Lessons (ages 8+)
Private, 1-1 lessons with Dominic DaSilva or Charlie Bridgham for all levels. No matter your experience, our teachers will help you define and accomplish your goals for your voice. Length of lesson will be determined upon registration.

Piano and Voice Lessons:

Always wanted to play and sing at the same time? These lessons are for singers with basic piano knowledge that want to up their skillz!  You will learn to play chord progressions to your favorite songs to sing, and how to enhance them for ease of playing and musical interest.

Private Coaching with Kirsten Oberoi:
Do you have an upcoming audition? Always wanted to begin singing but been afraid to try? Haven't sung in a long time? Want to improve your technique? Want feedback on a composition, or to work on your conducting? Individualized one-on-one coachings with our Founder, Kirsten Oberoi, are a flexible time to work with her on whatever you'd like!
Theory for Beginners
For Ages 8-12:
Immerse yourself in the world of music theory by learning about the musical staff, navigating a musical score, engaging solfege and rhythm games, and beginning rhythmic notation!

For Ages 12-18:
This class is great for students who are totally new to music theory, or have some experience reading but would like reinforcement of understanding in a fun, encouraging environment! Students will learn about the musical staff, note names, navigating a musical score, solfege, intervals, rhythmic notation, and building blocks of a musical scales through fun and games.
Beyond the Fundamentals Theory 12-18*
Dive deeper into music theory, expand your knowledge of the major and minor scales through exploring the different modes and harmonies that music has to offer. Great for students who can read music confidently, identify intervals, and are familiar with solfege.

Pre-requisite:
Students who can read music confidently in at least one clef, familiar with solfege, and at least one counting system.

K-2 Sing and Play  
Are you wondering if your child might enjoy singing in a chorus? Come check out this short term class where students will discover their singing voice through song and games, learn fundamental musical concepts, and make friends with other kids who love music! This is a great option for a child who would be interested in SSCC's Upbeat school year programming, but wants to give it a try before committing long-term.

If you have an Upbeat kiddo who wants the music to continue through the summer, this is the class for them!
Youth Pop Ensemble (rising 3rd- rising 6th graders)   
Does your child wish they could sing the songs they hear in the shows and movies they love in their music class? This ensemble is for them! During the 5-week session, singers will learn 2 pieces of pop chorus music, learn to sing in harmony, nurture their voice technique, explore expressive performance, and make great friendships! Perfect for any Amplify singer looking to continue building their chorus skills this summer and have some fun.

This class is also a great opportunity for current singers transitioning from Upbeat to Amplify this fall!
Singing 101 for the Adult Beginner
Have you always wanted to learn to sing? This group class for adult beginners will offer foundations of singing, voice technique, and music reading in a non-judgmental and open environment. Explore all the parts of your vocal range, learn basic sheet music navigation, exercises you can practice at home, and even have a chance to workshop singing your favorite song! Enter a new stage of self confidence in your life and learn to love the sound of your own voice.

This class will run as a stand-alone, 5- week session.
Class will be in Quincy on Wednesday evenings from 7:15-8:15 on the dates below.

What is the Absence Policy?
A full session student may receive one makeup for private lessons, as schedules allow. We cannot offer make-ups for students registered for 1 5-week session.

Students will benefit from programming the most with consistent attendance. No make-ups or pro-rate options for missed group classes will be offered.
Is there Tuition Assistance?
Please note that financial aid is not offered for Summer Academy classes, workshops, drop-in sessions, or private lessons.

SSCC remains committed to ensuring that every student can participate in our core programs, regardless of financial need. Tuition assistance will continue to be available for these core offerings.
